More Big and Little
I’ve been thinking more about Beattie, and how she came so unselfconsciously and naturally to Jesus, as a little, unaffected, spontaneous child would.
There’s nothing contrived or elaborately presented with kids is there? They might dress up a bit, grabbing anything that comes to hand, but basically, what you see is what you get. And that’s the point isn’t it, we’re to come as we are, unadorned and unspoilt as we can manage.
And the other thing is that children are the same with everybody – though they might adapt their approach according to how scary or welcoming we are! But Beattie treated us all the same, big or little, loaded or broke, savvy or clueless. She’d hug us all to bits, or be grumpy with us, or share her feelings or possessions with everyone equally. What a wonderful pattern to follow.
We salute you Beattie. We remember you with great love and gratitude.
